Manny Pacquiao has been rewarded with the WBC’s No. 1 ranking at welterweight after his draw with champion Mario Barrios.

In a thrilling display of skill and heart, boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has secured the WBC’s No. 1 ranking at welterweight, following his recent draw against reigning champion Mario Barrios. The fight, which captivated fans worldwide, showcased Pacquiao’s trademark speed, precision, and tactical intelligence—even in the later stages of his illustrious career.

Pacquiao, widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, demonstrated why he remains a force in the sport. While the bout ended in a draw, his performance was enough to impress the World Boxing Council (WBC), who have recognized his remarkable effort with the top ranking in the welterweight division. This achievement underscores Pacquiao’s enduring relevance in a sport that constantly evolves with younger, faster challengers.

Mario Barrios, the defending champion, put up a tough fight, testing Pacquiao’s endurance and strategy throughout the rounds. Despite the draw, Pacquiao’s experience and ring IQ allowed him to stay competitive and maintain control at key moments, earning respect from fans, analysts, and fellow fighters alike.

With the No. 1 ranking now officially in his corner, Pacquiao is positioned for a potential title shot, keeping the dream of another championship alive. Whether this leads to a rematch with Barrios or another top contender, the boxing world will undoubtedly be watching.

For fans, the news is both exciting and nostalgic—Pacquiao continues to defy expectations, proving that age and years in the ring have not dimmed his fighting spirit. As he gears up for the next chapter of his career, one thing is clear: Manny Pacquiao’s legacy in boxing is far from finished.

Manny Pacquiao’s announcement in May prompted the WBC to place him at No. 5 in its rankings. However, the 46-year-old Filipino icon was absent from the June and July lists.

On July 19, Pacquiao faced Mario Barrios and battled to a majority draw — two judges scoring it 114-114 and the third giving Barrios a narrow 115-113 win.

That showing has put Pacquiao back in the rankings, replacing former No. 1 Souleymane Cissokho, who remained unbeaten at 18-0 (9 KOs) after defeating Egidijus Kavaliauskas by unanimous decision in May.

Still, Pacquiao’s star power means he doesn’t rely on a top position to secure fights. His enduring box-office appeal, boosted by the intrigue of competing at his age, ensures opportunities — and being in the top 15 is enough for him to qualify for a world title shot.
